An Urgent Message to All Women (And Some Dudes)

June 1, 2020

What does your self-care routine look like?

Maybe it includes a relaxing bubble bath (doubtful for me, but, hey, good for you if you can!), or maybe it involves a glass of wine after work if the day got a little hairy. Whether you include these, or some other practices in taking care of yourself, I'm guessing part of your self-care process definitely includes a nice skincare regimen that involves a gentle facial cleanser, a little dab of overnight cream, followed by a lil close-up look in the mirror.

✅ Check on the facial cleanser - I love my new honey & rose balm-to-oil makeup eraser and honey & rose scented soothing cleanser. I can just smell it and feel cleaner.

✅ Check on the honey & rose overnight recovery cream, it's a quick way to finish a simple skin care routine and it feels soo nice on my skin.

That means the only thing left to do was a lil check in my magnifying mirror to see if those eyebrows were behaving. Yup, yup - miraculously those stray hairs have been staying in check! My tweezer has been able to take a break . . . until (cue scary music), the sunlight hit. It was as if a spotlight were being shown right on those few square inches of beautiful real estate above my baby blues.

Eek!

What just happened?? My brows literally go from glam squad (okay, not really, but they didn't look that bad) to some kind of side-show turned horror film in a matter of seconds! Where did that jungle land growth come from? I mean, if rainforests could grow as fast as my eyebrows did, deforestation would not be an issue.

That beautiful natural light sure has a dark side. Like for real direct sunlight, just what is your agenda here?!

And for the record, I am pretty sure that was the Holy Spirit coming as the bright light behind me, gently whispering, "Brianne, come home. There's nothing you can do about that . . . girlfriend, like for real."

Ladies, (and some dudes), this is your PSA to PUH-LEASE get some good lighting and a good mirror when you check those brows; you will decrease your chance of heart attack by 50%. Just because those tiny hairs aren't visible to the naked eye, does not mean they aren't there.

You may need to go partially cross-eyed, you may need to partially blind yourself due to the strong rays of unforgiving light, and you may need to fight through the tears to actually see what you're doing, BUT friend, you will see those stray brow hairs, you will pluck those crazy beasts, and you will conquer.

Now go my friend, may the peace of the tweezers be with you.
