Happy Day For the Mamas! Boy, do we ever love those rascals...!

Happy Mother's Day!

Mama, today is your day - the day of all days!

That you've waited and prayed for since last year, May.

On Mother's Day, it's your day, put on your crown!

Your family will celebrate only you from sun up to sundown.

It will start with several hours of uninterrupted quiet and peace,

Close your eyes - bask in it! Dear Lord, don't let this cease!

Perhaps your day will begin with breakfast in bed,

Around 10:00, a knock on the door followed by coffee, toast, and eggs.

Then you'll be gifted with plentiful chocolates and flowers,

Probably roses and Doves chocolate that you'll nibble hour after hour.

AND THEN...

Reality sets in and unceremoniously the day is here . . .

Get up early cuz they're yelling, is it too early for a beer?

It's my day, gah the nerve! I just wanted some calm,

Is it too much to ask these little demons to yield to their Super Mom?

The flowers were dandelions delivered by hands that were dirty,

The chocolate was leftover from the Easter egg candy.

Breakfast you made for yourself, what a surprise!

But maybe you'll lock yourself in your room to eat for a little quiet time.

BUT...

At the end of the day, we really wouldn't have it any other way,

Those baby demons are ours and that's how it will stay.

Those yelling voices can also be sweet,

And when they say, "I love you, mama", that's sure hard to beat.

They see the dandelions as beautiful treasures miraculously found outside,

And they worked hard to pick them and deliver them with pride.

Sure, some quiet time here and there sure would be nice in a lot of ways,

But without our babies, Mother's Day just wouldn't be our day of all days...!

And whether you're a 'mom' mom, aunt, sister, step-mom, grandmother, special friend, mentor, confidant, pet mom or any other special lady . . .

Have a Happy Mother's Day, Mama - a blessed and joy-filled day, you deserve it!
