On January 1st, 2020, I began an online fitness accountability group with about 13 gals who were ready to commit to being healthier.
It's a 100 day journey to daily exercise and making healthy eating choices. In our group's app that we communicate through, we have daily motivation, ideas, share victories, ask questions... and also celebrate failures.
Back that up - what? Celebrate failures?
Yes, you read that right. We might miss workouts, we might have 1...or 2 or 3....sweet too many. But hey, last time I checked, ain't nobody here on earth perfect. And guess what, we earn that esteemed imperfect title by failing, by messing up, by doing things less than the best we can do.
Every time we wear the crown of imperfection, we come to a crossroads. We have two choices on how we handle our failure.
We can put that crown on top of our head with all of our other failure crowns and give up. Forward progress halts and well, I guess it just wasn't in the cards this time for things to work out.
OR
We can put on that crown of failure, acknowledge the fact we earned it, then take it off and throw into the fire as fuel of motivation to get back in there and do it again and keep moving forward with our plan. We might need to tweak things, but we don't use failure as an excuse to quit.
You can choose to be defined by your failure or you can choose to be defined by your persistence to succeed in not giving up. And each time you don't give up you get a little stronger, each time you get a little more confident.
My challenge group will be feeling all of these feels not only for the 100 days we're in the group, but beyond that.
It's through your failure that you can become a bad ass. But really, that's all up to you.
What will you choose?
You got this,
