I received the most special blessing today - let me tell you about later in this blog . . .
At the end of the day, all we have is ourselves. While that might be true, that doesn't mean we don't have other people and relationships in our lives that we can grow from and flourish with.
In fact, we need do that. We need people. We need love. We need support. We need it all.
Relationships are an important part to our wellness and it is a topic that can go deep and wide. The breadth of it comes in the various kinds of relationships - professional, casual, friendship, family, and romantic love. The depth depends on how close and important that person is to us.
People that have a recurring role in your book of life have some kind of relationship with you. Ranging from the mailman or store clerk, to coworkers, to school friends, family members, signifiant other or spouse.
The topic of relationships can get pretty in depth, but we'll keep things simple. Regardless of the specific relationship, all healthy relationships will have respect for one another, open and clear communication, honesty, and positive conflict resolution.
Again, to keep it simple. Think about everyone you interact with. Do you treat them well? Do you show respect? Can you admit wrong when you need to? Do your words come from a loving place? Do you talk to them and respond to them like you'd want someone to talk to your child?
Are you active in the relationships that are important to you? A phone call, a heartfelt conversation, an "I'm thinking about you" text, an offer to help . . . whatever it might be. In the craze of the days, it is easy to let some of these relationships slide.
Waiting until "tomorrow" or to wait "until you have more time" is dangerous - those days may never come. What you do now will be what each relationship will remember about you. What have you done lately to nourish each connection that is valuable to you?
Acting today isn't too late. What you do today might be "the something" that will impact and touch that person for the rest of their lives regardless of how long you're blessed on this earth.
So the relationship blessing that I received was a note from my mom that she wrote about 25 years (or more) ago. A simple postcard note that shared her love and prayers for me.
She's been gone now over 22 years.
Her words, her handwriting, and picturing what her face probably looked like as she wrote this brought tears to my eyes.
A sentiment over 25 years old meant to bolster a mother-daughter relationship still worked, if anything, it is more powerful now than it was then when I was a teenage girl.
Lay the foundation now for everlasting memories and impact to those most beloved and important to you. You just never know what kind of impact and difference you may have. π
What will you do today to strengthen the relationships in your life?
Sending love, blessings, and health to you -
Best,
Brianne β€οΈ
