with Mr. Andrea
Thank you for choosing Mr. Andrea as your child's teacher. These sessions are designed to provide extra one on one support for any academic needs you have. Student/Parent will meet over zoom for a 50-minute session.
During your session Mr. Andrea can help with:
• Checking student work and providing feedback
• Helping keep the student on track with their academic progress, organization, and/or focus
• Answering teacher/parent questions
• Clarifying any gaps in the curriculum
• Suggesting additional resources to support your child
• Some parents also seek a mentor for their budding adolescents and teens. It can be tremendously helpful to have another trusted adult outside the home to offer guidance.
• Teens generally don't want authorities but "expert guides" to consult with. We offer that as well. Nicholas has a background in counseling. While this would not be considered "therapy," these sessions are therapeutic for adolescents.
• Common subjects we get requests for are math and writing. Oftentimes, we find a deficiency in students' mastering of math facts which are a "language" upon which all higher math operations are built, so it is vital they master their times tables, addition and subtraction math facts before grade 6.
• If they are struggling, we can certainly help, and this is done through a combination of music, rhythm, coordinated movement, and written practice. It's highly effective.
